Having graduated from The University of Sydney with a Bachelors of Dental Surgery in 2001, Dr Katyal entered private general dental practice and also completed a Master of Science in Medicine (Clinical Epidemiology) from The University of Sydney. In 2013 Dr Katyal attained the degree of Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics from The University of Adelaide as well as Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. She has also completed a Masters of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Ducere Global Business School in 2019. In 2019 following her MBA, she went to the esteemed Stanford University in USA to complete a Design Thinking Bootcamp. In 2021, Dr Katyal also became an accredited Australian trainer and assessor having completed her Cert IV in Training and Assessment.
Her research interests are in the field of 3D / AI driven technologies, clear aligners, paediatric sleep-disordered breathing, snoring and oral appliances, mini-screws, virtual orthodontics, and more which have been published in peer-reviewed and top ranking orthodontic journals. She has also been twice awarded the prestigious Sam Bulkley AB Orthodontics Travelling fellowship to continue her research in Germany in the area of miniscrew-assisted rapid maxillary expansion in children and adolescents.
Currently she is the head orthodontist at CCC Smiles in Mosman, Sydney and also the Course Director for AU & UK-accredited 10905NAT Graduate Diploma of Digital Orthodontic Treatments via BOSS (Best Orthodontic Seminars & Sessions) in Australia, a registered training organisation. In 2020 she founded Doctors on Cloud, a digital health platform with a mission to integrate and connect healthcare professionals globally (to be released soon!).
Her treatment philosophy is to practice in a modern, innovative and evidence-based manner which is truly patient-centric. She believes in sharing her knowledge with dental practitioners and enjoys empowering others with knowledge and skills via her educational initiatives. She practices being socially responsible, giving back to the community as well as supporting leadership and equity for women in dentistry.
